During Q2 – October 1 through December 31, 2016, we distributed $3,562,383 in grants – a 39% increase from the previous fiscal year.
Approximately $2,926,330 of the second-quarter grant total came from our Donor Advised Funds. Donor Advised funds are a tool that allows donors to participate in the funding process by suggesting grant recipients. Thirty-six percent of this donor advised grant total ($1,269,950) was directed locally to Collier County agencies.
More than $250,000 in grants were recommended by four committees from Community Impact Funds. Where do our Community Impact Funds come from? Donors who want to support Collier County but not want to be involved in the details of grantmaking can create an named Unrestricted Fund for Community Impact Grants. These grants are vetted and recommended by the Foundation’s volunteer grant committees and awarded to organizations that address the most current needs in Collier County as outlined in the Foundation’s Vital Signs report. Grants from unrestricted funds are competitive and require the agency to complete a profile in the Foundation’s NONPROFIT DIRECTORY and also submit an application online.
